I am in very bad credit card debt. i owe about 16 thousand and make only $462 a week take home. I also pay $450 a month for rent plus utilities. If i filed for bankruptcy, what are the procedures and how long would it take until i can restore ...

………as well as other taxpayer funded goodies. I’m so sick of paying for their sexual urges and total lack of personal responsibility.

There’s about 16,000 dollars in credit debt that we owe. We currently pay 2000 a month towards it, which is well above the minimum payment. At this rate it will, of course, take 8-9 months to pay off. It would be nice if there was another way to make the debt or the interest lower. We call the companies and ask them to lower the interest rate, and they do, but then raise it back up the next month. Transferring the debt to another credit card is not really an option we are willing to take. Does anyone have any direct experience with this? We use Dave Ramsey and we love his program. We are doing the debt snowball. Were not shooting ourself in the foot. We are being realistic by not harming our credit score becuase our we need to be moving soon. When we move we will do the 15 year loan until we can buy a house debt free…..But until then, no matter what Dave says, we still need a decent credit score - especially now with the mortgage crisis. We will not secure anything against the equity in our house. The goal here is to get out of the debt, not move it somewhere else.
